University of Maryland  Medical Center is the only center in the region to offer an innovative COVID-19 treatment option on an outpatient basis.

However, the therapy must be given within the first 72 hours of symptoms onset and/or diagnosis to be effective.

I’ve tested positive for COVID-19 — now what?

For patients with mild to moderate symptoms and a positive test result, they are invited to enter our unique COVID-19 Patient Care Program to prevent health decline and potential hospitalization.

Program Details

  • Using Wearable Technology: Wearable devices which measure blood oxygen level, pulse, and temperature can be used to track concerning changes in vital signs. Patients in follow-up care can send vital signs to their provider for daily monitoring via a secure online dashboard for early intervention when needed.
  • Innovative Treatment Options: Early treatment has been shown to prevent hospitalization if given within the first 72 hours of symptom onset with confirmed COVID-19 diagnosis, particularly for those at high risk of complications from the infection.

As there are very few approved and available treatments for COVID-19, UM Urgent Care is uniquely able to offer access to innovative therapeutics in the outpatient setting through our partnerships with the Clinical Research Unit at the Institute of Human Virology and the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC).

Post-Virus Care

Once the virus has run its course over a 14-day period, patients may still experience uncomfortable post-virus symptoms.

As part of an academic medical center, our physicians can provide quick access to specialty care services such as pulmonology, cardiology, neurology, orthopedics, gastroenterology and other expert specialists, either at our medical community in Columbia or 15 minutes away at UMMC.
